Small, compact and fast: these are the demands on the new generations of motors. And the new igus hybrid cable for Sew motors from Treotham makes it possible.
With more and more drive manufacturers turning to hybrid technology to save space, igus has expanded its range of hybrid cables with a new cable especially for Sew motors with the Movilink DDI interface.
Characterised by their ability to combine energy and data transmission in one cable, hybrid cables for drive technology also reduce the weight that needs to be driven by the system, resulting in less energy consumed.
Alec Stanley, national sales manager at Treotham Automation, says that the new hybrid cable CF280.UL.H207.D “was developed with a coaxial element to be able to safely supply the compact motors with energy and data while they are in motion”.
Andreas Muckes, head of product management chainflex cables at igus GmbH, explains: “The challenge with cables with coaxial elements is that they quickly become susceptible to faults at high dynamics. That is why we have made it our task to develop a durable and flexible cable that also functions reliably in motion.”
For the new igus hybrid cable for Sew motors, four energy cores have now been combined with one coaxial core and two control pairs.
“With the demands for new motors to be small, compact and fast, more and more drive manufacturers are turning to hybrid cables to save space. With the new range of highly flexible chainflex cables, users can save 40% space in the e-chain,” says Stanley.
A PUR outer jacket means that the cable can be used for applications with a bending factor of up to 15xd, making it suitable for a wide range of industries.
“Users in the material handling, machine tools and automotive industries can rely on a durable cable specifically developed for e-chain applications,” says Stanley.
