ABB brings process instrumentation expertise to New Zealand industry
ABB’s Measurement and Analytics division provides a wide range of instrumentation and technical support across New Zealand, covering both core process instrumentation and advanced analytical systems.
While many in the sector may recognise ABB for its legacy MagMaster flowmeter platform, the company’s local team says the full scope of its instrumentation capabilities is sometimes less well known. The portfolio includes solutions for flow, pressure, level, and temperature, as well as analysers for water and gas quality monitoring – covering applications such as emissions control, environmental compliance, and process optimisation.
“We support a wide range of industries across New Zealand, combining global technology with local service and technical support,” says Nick Rana, local division sales manager – measurement and analytics. “Our team is available on-site or remotely, and we also provide hands-on product training to help customers run their operations more efficiently and effectively.”
The division’s engineers and application specialists regularly work with clients to address complex measurement challenges. According to ABB, most essential instruments are held in stock at the company’s Auckland warehouse, with the majority of orders dispatched the same day or within three working days, if additional services are required.
The team’s technical depth spans multiple disciplines. Kevin Fernandes brings knowledge and experience in optics for water quality analysis and advises on ABB’s UviTec cutting-edge water quality analysers. Scott Cookson specialises in gas analysis requirements and advises on emissions monitoring, while Muthu Ramani offers application knowledge in flow measurement technologies, including Coriolis, Vortex, Swirl, and differential pressure elements.
All three team members also work across pressure, level, and temperature instrumentation. Service support is coordinated by Arun Singh and the wider ABB service team, who assist with commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
ABB says that it continues to be recognised by local authorities for both its technology offering and service capabilities. Rana adds that value-added support remains a core focus: “We’re here to help customers achieve greater process insight, efficiency, and compliance with confidence.
“We offer complete value-add packages to help our customers succeed in their pursuit of operational excellence.”
