Prime Fluid Management

More than just pumps: New name and chapter for Kiwi fluid handling company

Prime Fluid Management, formerly known as Prime Pump, launched new branding in August with a design that general manager Ben Petrie says better captures the breadth and depth of the company’s services.

“We’ve always been about more than just pumps and our new name reflects that,” says Petrie

Established in 1990, the business has been a trusted supplier of fluid bypass, transfer, extraction and treatment solutions for more than three decades.

“We started with industrial pumps,” says Petrie, whose family purchased the business in 2007. “Now, we serve multiple industries, continuing to work with our industrial customers and also providing solutions for civil, extractives, municipal and agricultural customers.

“Whether we’re managing hot oil, mine tailings or dewatered sludge, our aim is always to improve productivity for our customers,” says Petrie.

For Petrie and the Prime Fluid Management team, that means recommending products or solutions that are the best-fit for their intended purpose and that have the flexibility to deliver on future needs.

“When you are focussed on finding solutions that are best-fit and, as much as possible, future-proofed, factors like ease of use, energy efficiency and lifetime value improve naturally, says Petrie.

The business chooses to work with suppliers who are committed to improving product efficiency with least impact on the environment: “We provide fully solar options on several products, and make available hybrid, electric and Stage V diesel engines to give customers more control of their carbon footprint.”

With six branches nationwide, Prime Fluid Management says the company’s people, pumps, and systems are “integral to major civil and municipal projects, extractive sites, and plants and factories across the country”.

The company combines passion, expertise, and adaptability with what it describes as “the best in pump technology”, to deliver outstanding results.

Petrie, who was the first full time employee in the family business, says he remains inspired by the work that he does.

“Our solutions play a critical role in situations where lives, livelihoods, and the environment are at stake. I, like the rest of the team, am extremely motivated to deliver high-quality solutions that meet today’s needs and, drive better outcomes for tomorrow.”
