New Oceania sales manager for Sandvik Coromant

Sandvik Coromant has appointed Atsushi Takei as sales cluster manager for Southeast Asia and Oceania.

Takei, previously sales cluster manager for Japan Direct, will lead the company’s regional sales organisation across Southeast Asia and Oceania, working with local teams on customer support, regional strategy and business growth.

Takei joined Sandvik Coromant in 2004 following graduation in mechanical engineering and has held a range of sales and leadership roles within the business. Since 2019, he has worked as a sales cluster manager, contributing to the establishment of the East Japan Cluster before later leading Cluster Japan Direct.

He succeeds Manny Valenza, who has held the Southeast Asia and Oceania role since 2016 and has been involved in expanding Sandvik Coromant’s regional presence and sales operations.

Valenza will remain within the sales organisation through to mid-2026 to support the transition before moving into a new role within the Sandvik Coromant Academy focused on technical competence development and customer training.

Masahiro Yamamoto, general manager for Sales Area Asia Pacific, says Takei brings significant market and operational experience to the position.

“Takei brings solid expertise and experience to lead the sales team and drive business growth. I’m confident he will successfully lead the diverse SEAO team to the next level,” Yamamoto says.

Yamamoto says the appointment also reflects broader regional growth opportunities and closer alignment between Asia-Pacific manufacturing markets.

“The appointment of a Japanese manager to lead Sales in Southeast Asia and Oceania reflects our commitment to strengthening our presence in these rapidly growing markets,” he says.

“Japan has long been one of Sandvik Coromant’s most advanced and competitive markets.

“This experience gives us a unique advantage when exploring similar customer needs, productivity expectations and manufacturing maturity across the region. By bringing proven best practices into Southeast Asia and Oceania, we expect to further accelerate growth, improve customer experience and strengthen collaboration across APAC.”

Takei says he is looking forward to continuing development across the Southeast Asia and Oceania region.

“I’m honoured to take on this role and build on the strong foundation already in place across SEAO. I look forward to working closely with our teams to support our customers and continue developing the business across the region,” Takei says.
